We have a terrible habit of assuming that every time the word "word" appears in scripture that it refers to the whole bible. But that is seldom the case. Below is one example.
"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of the Lord will stand forever" (Isaiah 40:8).
God is love & love keeps no record of wrongs. In places the bible records the wrongs of God's people. So to suggest that the bible, as canonized, is the "word of the Lord that stands forever" goes against the truth that God is love.
1 Peter 1:25 says, "The word of the Lord stands forever. This word is the GOOD NEWS that was proclaimed to you." We see that the gospel is the word that lasts forever, not our collection of written scriptures called the bible.
May we stop praising the pages & start praising Jesus our Prince & Priest.
